Alex Poorta

Ex-Pro Tennis Player, Mentor & Full-time Tennis Director and Certified Coach.

Cofounder, Product Owner and Chief of Sales. Alex is a Teaching Pro in the Bay Area (Tennis Director in Palo Alto) with a wealth of experience as a tennis player and tennis coach. After gaining a world ranking as a professional tennis player, she played college tennis at Saint Mary's College in California, where she was top 25 in D1 singles. She was named conference player of the year and won the WCC title with her team. 

Later, Alex found her calling in coaching tennis and became Head Coach at Dominican University. This began her collegiate coaching career, which resulted in her return to her alma mater Saint Mary's College as an assistant coach helping lead them to the NCAA tournament. 

Alex coached Michaela Gordon (Junior world ranking ITF 41, WTA 700) to a 3rd round appearance at the 2016 Junior French Open. She also coached Danielle Lao (WTA #270), assisting Lao to her first $25,000 ITF tournament victory in Baton Rouge in 2015.  In addition to working on the WTA Tour, Alex made continued impact with ITF juniors. She has coached the National Girls 18's Team for Northern California (sectionals) in 2014, 2015 and 2016. At the 2016 Maze Cup, Alex lead Northern California's top two juniors in each age category to a team victory over Southern California. Alex also coached Norther California natives Connie Ma (Stanford #1) and Katie Volynets (WTA #121). 

Alex traveled with and coached Danielle Collins for a summer in 2019 which led to Alex taking a job as National Coach for the USTA working with the top youth players on the world stage. After 2 years of grueling 30+ weeks of travel schedule, Alex decided to focus on coaching locally in the Bay Area. 

Alex likes working with players of all ages and levels. She enjoys working with anyone who genuinely is looking to improve.

Outside of tennis, Alex enjoys self development, psychology and just learning in general. She also loves watching TV shows and movies, visiting new countries, hiking and being in nature.
